From the recording Into The Shimmering

Tomorrow's Lullaby - This song is from a sunnier side of life that does have faith and hope. In 1988, I saw a film called 'Cry Freedom' about Steven Biko, a black South African activist.  I was horrified by the opening scene of a township being bulldozed at dawn and masses of terrified children running and screaming as their homes and families were decimated.  I cried for weeks as the image haunted me. The result was that I wrote this song for future generations that will hopefully not have to endure such atrocities and can live their lives in freedom, abundance and safety.

Don’t cry little Darlin’ it’s only the night time
Everything is still gonna be alright
When you wake up in the sunshine
There’s no devil in the dark
No reason for a fearful heart
So go to sleep little Darlin’ go to sleep

Your Mama’s still gonna be here
With love shining in her eyes
To hold you and to show you
All the pictures the clouds make
In the big blue sky
So go to sleep little Darlin’ go to sleep

There will be plenty of whatever you need
To live your precious life, yea
You’ll have freedom to walk your path
And hope to shine a light
So go to sleep little Darlin’ go to sleep

There will be plenty of food for you to eat
It will be safe for you to play in the street
Everything will be as it should be
You will grow and be all that you can be

So go to sleep little Darlin’ go to sleep
So go to sleep little Darlin’ go to sleep
So go to sleep little Darlin’ go to sleep
